Our teeth should last a lifetime.

For many Americans, however, this is not the case... despite the world's best technology and treatment. Most dentists emphasize treatment over prevention. Daily oral hygiene is talked about but not taught to dental students or patients.

It is time for dentists, patients and policy makers to be given an insider's look on the importance of oral hygiene habits and its effect on your dental and general health.

"A folksy and engaging testimony to a great man and the dental profession to which he has devoted his life. Dr. Saroyan has weaved a story of his own experiences in dentistry with the basics of a dental education for the layperson emphasizing common sense prevention. As an advocate for optimum oral health, Dr. Saroyan looks at the controversies surrounding fluoridation and offers suggestions for a compromise. His insights into and opinions of dentistry and dental profession politics are deep and positions are always taken with the public’s health in mind. A great read for those who are in the profession and those who are interested in what goes on in their mouths."

"Keep Smiling" is a terrific reference book to have (5 out of 5 stars)

"Dr. Saroyan might have called his book "How to Floss," after the emphasis he places on flossing, but that would have denied readers the other vastly important chapters. It is not only a primer about dentistry, but his knowledge of the practice reveals his deep commitment to educating both dentists, dental students, and the rest of us who need to know how critical good dental health is. It should be required reading for everyone. His information on fluoridation and salt fluoridation makes me wonder why all municipal water supplies don't use such an effective means of promoting dental health, which leads to better general health."

Should be required reading for students and good for patients (5 out of 5 stars)

"Frank, informative, rebellious, and an important contribution to healthcare literature. With so much attention justifiably given to new technologies, the context and history needed for ethical advancement becomes muted in the absence of texts such as this. The author has provided a valuable resource for students and patients."

"An easily accessible and readable guide to health and wellbeing while also a treasure trove of information about navigating an industry as a consumer. This book offers a lifetime of wisdom and experience to the reader. Imagine if there were this kind of book about every industry! Thanks Dr. Saroyan!"

An inexpensive way to save significant costs and pain later (5 out of 5 stars)
spacer
"Every parent needs to read this book so that their children can grow up with this critical knowledge about an important part of their healthcare, instead of picking it up piecemeal into their thirties or forties or even later. It would save millions from the pain of poor personal [health] later in life. Do your family a favor. Plus, it's a much more interesting read than you would imagine."
